Power Line Review About to Begin | CFTKTV
The B-C Transmission Corporation has formally submitted the Northwest Transmission Line project for environmental review.
B-C's Environmental Assessment office now has 30 days to decide whether the application meets the criteria for a review. If it does, it'll be made public, triggering the 180-day review period.

Understanding Energy Transmission - ET 101
Despite the length of transmission lines, by tradition, much of the energy produced in a region stays within or near that region. There are exceptions, but they won't be discussed at this point. For example when Alaska interconnects to British Columbia, most of the newer energy won't travel much farther than to the nearest load in British Columbia.
When new generation is added, the energy is actually shifted to the next region's load in a kind of domino effect. So the power may leave the region, but it doesn't go too far.

- A. John Robertson
- I'm interested in a sustainable economy in the North and worldwide. I think that we have a lot to learn from each other, in this region of the world. My known heritage is Alaskan, American, Canadian, Norwegian, Welsh and German. I was born in Alaska, but have lived in Oregon and Washington, as well as having spent time with my cousins in British Columbia. I have relatives who are Tlingit and family whom are Inupiat - we all have a stake in a sustainable future. I think that we Northerners can better prosper working together rather than by going it alone. Hopefully these blogs will help achieve some positive movement in the direction of collaborative benefits for this region we call home.
